Selling fewer computer systems these days? Maybe this is why...
There's a terrible misconception out there that small computer shops have markups of 100% and more when it comes to selling new computers.
At least, I THINK that's a misconception. If you're getting that much markup and have high sales volume, more power to ya!
But the fact is that many barely make $100 per system and after considering overhead and labor, don't actually make any money on new systems, though it does bring a new customer for future sales and service, plus the opportunity to get trade-ins and build word-of-mouth sales.
As an example, I'm posting a link to a current message board topic where a videographer is telling other videographers that they can save fifty percent by building their own computers. Some of you should register on this board and straighten these guys out...
